We refought Quatre Bras over the weekend of 13/14 June at the Royal Armouries. This is part of the 200th celebrations of the Battle of Waterloo, which Legendary Wargames will be refighting on the 27/28 June at our base in Church Fenton. This weekend was organised by the Royal Armouries to gather a number of games all relating to the 100 days campaign. The refight followed history surprisingly closely. Here Marshal Neys lead Divisions advance against the outnumbered Dutch, Belgian and Nassau troops. Taking the outlying farms with ease the French press on, moving to clear the woods and Rye fields to there front. In the distance a French column prepares to storm the village of Thyle. Thyle falls, the Dutch/Belgian troops routed by the French. The first British troops arrive. French columns enter the Rye fields, these fields stood between 5 and 6ft tall on the day! Much later in the day. The British are now present in much greater strength and the Battle has swung in their favour. Thyle is still held by the French but they are hard pressed to control the centre in and around the Rye fields. The Bossu wood in the distance is being recaptured by the Hanovarian brigade. Hanovarians clearing the Bossu wood. Andy, as Marshal Ney enjoying the Day! A big thank you to Lisa and Kirsty from Royal Armouries for organising the weekend. Also a big thank you to all who came for a chat and showed interest in the game and in Legendary Wargames.
